    Summer Program Survey

In an effort to meet the needs of the community with regards to summer programs for children, we have been working with the Boys and Girls Clubs in St. Helena to possibly offer a program at the Howell Mountain School campus. Unfortunately, there was no way to make it work for the summer of 2018. There is a possibility, depending on cost, that the district and community partners may be able to supply a bus to take children to and from the St. Helena Club. Below is a link to an online survey that we are asking you to take so that we can judge interest in this option. Please complete the survey soon as we are currently working towards finding a solution that will work. Please note, this is not a promise of services, simply a gauge of interest.

The addition of the Boys and Girls Club to Howell Mountain School has provided wonderful opportunities for our students, and we hope to expand these offerings in the future.

    Summer Program Survey:
This survey is preliminary to determine if there is an interest and need for the Angwin community. Once the data is collected and funding is secured, the plan would be to host the Boys and Girls Club at Howell Mountain Elementary School.  Before we get too far in the process, we need to know if parents are interested in the opportunity.

    Poetry and Photography Exibit:

Room 8 fifth and sixth graders will be exhibiting their own photos and performing original poems at P.U.C.’s Music Hall (Paulen Hall) Wednesday, January 24, at 6:30 P.M.

The class was invited to participate in the project by Napa County’s poet laureate, Beclee Wilson.

The Studio on Main graciously provided students with disposable cameras, a brief photography lesson, and developed their pictures.

After the students selected their best shot, Miss Beclee provided a jumpstart lesson on poetry writing.

The students have begun crafting their poems and will have polished poetic pieces, all inspired by their own photos.

Along with the fifth grade class from P.U.C. Elementary, our fifth and sixth grade students will perform their own poems, to a backdrop of their pictures.

Mr. Luque and Room 8 students invite everyone from Howell Mountain Elementary and the Angwin community to join them in an evening of artistic performance.

    Happy Holidays!

Thank you to all who came out last night and helped us celebrate this joyous season. Happy Holidays from the staff at Howell Mountain School.

    Plan to Recover Lost Time

    2017-18 Instructional Time Recovery Plan

    Dear Howell Mountain Families,

As you are aware, the devastating fires in October of this year, caused a 10-day closure of Howell Mountain Elementary. With much consideration and consultation, it has been decided that the school district’s calendar will remain the same. Our teachers will address learning time lost by adjusting their lesson plans and instructional practices that will ensure that all the standards are taught within the existing school calendar.

The district wishes to thank everyone in the Howell Mountain community for their efforts in supporting the health and well-being of all our students. We pride ourselves on placing the needs of students first.

    Dr. Janet Tufts

    Superintendent/ Principal
